Both July and August brought a mix of fun, creative and relatable TikTok trends, from viral dances and clever transitions to humorous and meaningful content. Here are some of the biggest trends that have taken over our For You Pages for the last two months.

Join in Dance Trend

Creators have been using the same techno, jumpy audio to do a viral dance to, created by a group of schoolgirls. It begins with one person starting the dance, and then on the beat the 2nd person joins in and so on, it is a simple dance that anyone can recreate. Hence why it became such a big trend, with creators doing it multiple times, in different places, with different people and some also putting their own spin on it, by using the jumps as transitions.

Press Record Trend

This trend began through the viral audio, and a creator created a fun, almost self-deprecating trend, nodding to the videos that made them go viral, or popular. Creators are lip-syncing to the audio, and then adding text over the top describing their viral video. In this way, creators are bringing back the audience that they found as a result of that viral video. And in some instances, are going viral again, by stimulating the algorithm this second time around.

Shoe Kick Transition Trend

Creators have once again created a new transition trend, out dating the previous trending transition. This transition however is not always as clean as previous, which adds to the fun of the trend. Creators are balancing a shoe on one of their feet in a karate pose, however not every creator is stable in doing this, adding a fun aspect to it. They then kick the shoe up and transition to them dressed-up, wearing the shoes. Although this is a fairly new trend for August, I can see it continuing into September.

5 Things That Are Worth the Money Trend

As always, influencers are trying to influence and deinfluence their audience, however now in a fun, and sometimes humorous way. This trend sees influencers listing the 5 things that are worth the money, in their opinion. With some creators stating serious things, other creators use as a way to share their guilty pleasures, or the things they spend money on that aren’t necessities. Therefore, creating a fun trend that creates an insight into their passions and personalities.

Kind Chic Trend

The ‘Kind Chic’ trend is one of the more serious trends for the month, it uses trending words to target masses of people, whilst divulging in more serious topics and conversations. For example, ‘Kinda chic to fail but try again’ or ‘Kinda chic not knowing where you’re headed but believing it’ll work out’, this is opening up conversations about mental health and being in bad situations but pushing through it. Doing it in a way that appeals to a mass audience, and in a light-hearted way that makes people not feel seen and understood.

Bedazzling Trend

Then to end the month of August, we saw an influx of creators bedazzling things, this came off the back of Kylie Jenners birthday party, where the theme was gems. The internet then turned this into a major trend, bedazzling anything and everything, even their face masks, dogs, mugs. We know this trend won’t last very long, however it is a fun, nostalgic to peope who used sticky gems as a child and brings a lot of joy to the creators.
